Roger Federer Wins Fifth US Open Title!


Roger Federer ended his title drought by winning the final Grandslam of the season.Federer made history by winning the US Open for the fifth consecutive time since Bill Tilden won six in a row from 1920-25.He also became the only player to win Wimbledon & US Open 5 consecutive times.

Federer who had shown himself to be vulnerable this year, which started with a glandular fever, a straight sets loss to Rafael Nadal in the French Open Final & his Wimbledon Crown to Rafael Nadal in a five set epic final, So a grandlam title in the next couple of months was not much expected from him.

Federer won the final in a dramatic fashion with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 straight sets victory over first time grandslam finalist Andy Murray.Murray who had never gone beyond the quarterfinals of a grandslam entered the final defeating World No.1 Rafael Nadal in four sets.The victory gave Federer his 13th Grandslam just one shy of Pete Sampras's all time record of 14.He improved his grandlam final record to 13-4.
