The 2010 season has begun with all the eyes of the tennis world on the Australian Open with World No.2 Rafael Nadal defending the title he won last year(def.Federer). Lot of things have changed since the last year's Australian Open which saw Nadal doing one better than Roger Federer than what a he did at Wimbledon Final 2008.

Following that victory, it was full of twist and turns for most of the top players not just Rafael Nadal, who then surprisingly lost in the fourth round at Roland Gaross against Robin Soderling giving him his first defeat in 5 years at red clay.He subsequently withdrew from Wimbledon, missed two months due to knee tendonitis and then slumped the rest of the season, the Spaniard has yet to win a title since he won has last title in May 09 and has beaten only a single top ten player since then.

Meanwhile Roger Federer regained his form back won his first Roland Gaross title defeating first time finalist Robin Soderling and then 6th Wimbledon Crown defeating the much improved Andy Roddick in a thrilling five setter stretching 16-14 in the fifth set, thereby surpassing Pete Sampras's all time record of 14 grandslam titles, when many thought whether Federer’s best was behind him?.The Champ also became a father of 2 twin daughters.Going into the US Open eying for the 6th consecutive title, but it was halted by yet another surprise by Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro in a thrilling 5 setter in the US Open Final.

Russian Nikolay Davydenko seems to have improved his game a lot winning the ATP Shanghai Masters 1000 , ATP World Tour Finals and ATP Doha defeating top player viz Roger Federer,Rafael Nadal,Del Potro etc enroute and thereby definitley poses a threat at 2010 Australian Open.

Looking into the 2010 Australian Open Draw World No.1 & 15 time Grandslam Champion Roger Federer faces daunting task with contenders Davydenko who is on a nine matche winning streak,Fernando Verdasco who lost a Rafael Nadal at Australian Open semifinal last year in a five setter, three former World No.1s Moya, Hewitt, Ferrero and former Austrlian Open runner-up Marcos Bagdhatis in the top quarter whereas Nadal faces Qualifier Peter Luczak in the first round of the Australian Open.All the matches of 2010 Australian Open will be broadcasted live on this blog.
