US Open 2008 Preview:Just after the Beijing Olympics it is time for the next prestigious & final grandslam of the season to take place, The US Open.Rafael Nadal the new World No.1 who had an incredible run this season, winning French Open,Wimbledon & the Gold Medal at Olympics will be the top seed, followed by four time defending Champion Roger Federer & World No.3 Novak Djokovic in the US Open 2008.
The other men who are leading the field are former US Open Champions Andy Roddick,Lleyton Hewitt & Marat Safin.All top 100 men representing 29 different countries,received direct entry into the US Open.The US Open Starts on 25th of August till September 7th, this time both the Men’s and Women’s US Open singles champions will recieve $1.5 million cash prize.
Rafael Nadal will eye for his 3rd grandslam of the year a feat which has previously been accomplished by Rod Laver (1962, 1969) and Don Budge (1938) & Tony Trabert(1955), thereby to become the fourth man to do so.Roger Federer who has bagged only 2 ATP titles & without any Grandslam victories this year will certainly look forward to end his title drought.Serbian Star Novak Djokovic who won the Australian Open & the bronze medal at Olympics will also be a serious contender at the US Open 2008.
